About Lisa Duffy, Founder of Journey of Hope
Lisa Duffy is a Catholic author, speaker, and divorce recovery educator who experienced the tragedy of an unwanted divorce in the early 1990s. Out of that wound—and a deep desire that no Catholic walk the same road without the Church’s truth and compassion—she founded the Journey of Hope program for parish support groups. Since 2001, the program has helped separated and divorced Catholics across the United States and internationally find healing grounded in the Magisterium.
Lisa is the author of several books on Catholic divorce recovery, including "Divorced. Catholic. Now What?"—the foundation of the Journey of Hope curriculum—and most recently, "Mending the Heart: A Catholic Annulment Companion" (Our Sunday Visitor).
Her writing and speaking focus on what the Church actually teaches about marriage, divorce, annulments, and the sacraments—and on the practical work of rebuilding a life of faith after loss. She has appeared in Catholic and mainstream media, including an interview on NBC’s "Evening News with Lester Holt" after Pope Francis’s 2015 changes to the annulment process.
Beyond books and media, Lisa continues to support parish leaders who start Journey of Hope groups, offers training resources, and is available for speaking engagements—including in-person workshops and Zoom presentations. She is dedicated to her family and resides in South Carolina.
Journey of Hope exists because Lisa believes separated and divorced Catholics deserve more than silence or secular scripts. They deserve the Church’s clear teaching, merciful accompaniment, and real hope.
